Houses 2014 Sustainability award
The 2014 Houses awards commended S2 design as one of the top two sustainable architects in Australia and our achievement in the design of an individual dwelling that displays innovation and excellence in terms of environmental sustainability. “The ‘Argyle‘ project demonstrates best practice via relevant residential rating tools, legislation and other measures, considers the local and global impact of design decisions, and addresses building, household and material life cycle.”
2014 innovation of the year
S2 design was a shortlisted finalist in the category of ‘Innovation of the Year’ for our application of Replas recycled plastic sheets in the ‘Argyle’ project.

The ‘Argyle‘ project has been shortlisted as a finalist for the best use of ‘Recycled Timber’.

The ‘argyle‘ project was nominated by the City of Port Phillip Council as the best sustainable single-residence project in the 12th City of Port Phillip 2014 Design & Development Awards in the category of Best Contribution to Sustainable Development.
Houses renovation 2014 finalist
This category recognizes S2 designs’ achievement in the ‘argyle‘ project; a renovation and extension of an existing individual dwelling with a floor area of 200+ sq.m.
Presented by Houses magazine, the Houses Awards is an annual program celebrating Australia’s best residential projects. Each year, the Houses Awards entries provide a unique insight into contemporary residential design and the contribution Australia’s Architects and designers make to enhancing the way we live today.
Most Creative 2011
Our Spring Road project was awarded a high commendation in the category of ‘most creative design’ amongst 100 projects nominated in the Bayside City Council 2011 Built Environment Awards. We are very excited and honored that our work was selected alongside Gregory Burgess; one of our great inspirations.
This award recognises buildings that exhibit distinctive design and landmark qualities, generated by new ideas and innovative use of form, materials, colors and technology.

S2 design completed the Spring Road project in 2010 which was selected as a short-listed finalist in the category of ‘best ecologically sustainable design’ in the Bayside City Council 2011 Built Environment Awards.
The ESD award recognises outstanding responsiveness to the growing need for energy efficiency and the emerging environmental challenges of our time, setting a standard for others to follow, while remaining respectful of established neighborhood character.

Bayside City Council selected spring road as a short-listed finalist for the ‘best renovation/ extension’ in the 2011 Built Environment Awards. S2 design was acknowledged for the careful design required to successfully add new elements to an existing building in a manner, which is complementary, respectful or challenging, yet enriches both the host building and the local urban setting.

YAR restaurant/ bar was a finalist in the ‘commercial interior’ category of the 2008 Dulux colour awards. This award is the most prestigious program of its kind in Australia. Drawing some of the most acclaimed architects and interior designers from around the country, this award fosters and celebrates the industry’s creative use of colour.

Discovery House Café was the winner of an invited government tender to design a new 150 seat restaurant adjacent to the recently completed IP Australia [Intellectual Property] offices.

The Substation project was nominated by local councilors for the City of Port Phillip 2007 Design and Development Awards. S2 design, in collaboration with Damon Kowarsky, were awarded as one of the three finalists for the best contribution to urban art in the City of Port Phillip.
